In her current role as EMEA IoT Practice Leader, Marta Muñoz Méndez-Villamil leads IDC EMEA's Internet of Things (IoT) research, advisory, and consulting services. She researches innovative trends and best practices, advises businesses globally on their IoT strategies, product portfolios, and roadmaps, and sets a vision for future internal IoT research. She leads a team of analysts across EMEA and helps coordinate the IoT Practice's activities with those of other IDC Practices globally.
Previously, Muñoz was operations director at IDC Spain, advising Spanish customers on their digital transformation journeys, including the impact of IoT, mobility, workplace transformation, and analytics on the business and their go-to-market strategy, as well as how to respond and adapt their offerings for increasingly demanding customers. She helped consolidate IDC as the leading research and market intelligence firm in Spain.
Muñoz joined IDC in 2008 as research director for the enterprise telecoms services area in the U.K. She helped technology vendors, service providers, and end users analyze the migration from traditional telecommunications tools to more innovative solutions. She speaks at numerous events and conferences and frequently interacts with the press. The results of her work have been published in the likes of El País, ABC, El Mundo, The Economist, and The Financial Times, as well as the specialized press such as ComputerWorld and IT User.
With over 20 years' experience in the IT and telecommunications market, Muñoz brings a deep understanding of the current trends in the industry and the challenges that a changing ecosystem bring to the ICT landscape. She has also worked as an analyst and research manager at Ovum and Netcom Consultants in the U.K. and in the Strategy and Technology Department of Telefónica in Spain.
